ESSER III Use of Funds Plan

Serenity Education serves students with multiple disabilities whom were directly impacted by the lost instructional time during the pandemic. As a result, Serenity Education has decided to utilize the LEA’s ESSER III funds to directly address the learning loss that resulted from the Covid-19 pandemic. The LEA employed an additional BCBA through use of the funding to address behaviors in the school setting as well as to support families with resources to utilize in their homes. Additionally, the LEA's ESSER III funding will directly address the loss of learning that resulted from the pandemic by licensing six additional special educators employed currently as paraprofessionals in our educational program. In order to license paraprofessionals holding Bachelor's degrees, Serenity Education will utilize funding for Praxis and relative study materials for educators during the licensure process. Additionally, Serenity Education will utilize funding to enroll six future special educators in the ASPIRE to teach program beginning in August 2024. These candidates will be licensed Special Education Generalists through the Colorado Department of Education in August of 2024. The addition of six licensed special educators to our program directly addresses the loss of instructional time that Serenity Education students experienced due to the pandemic and its' lasting effects on our educational program. Licensing these six special educators will surpass the $16,800 requirement of ESSER III funding to be spent on academic impact of lost instructional time due to the pandemic. Serenity Education will increase its' quantity of licensed special education generalists on-site by 75% utilizing the ESSER III funding.
